some thoughts

So I'm feeling a bit stressed that I'm only at Thing Four and it's almost July. I realize I'll still (hopefully...) be able to catch up but it's a bit discouraging for me.

I'm working at a relatively new position and that seems to take a lot of my energy (whether it should or not) and I realize that will likely change. I have many more ideas about Thing 2, but don't seem to be able to get them out on paper (so to speak), and will just have to revisit it. I decided to just go ahead for now to at least get going in some direction.

So, I guess I just want to say I'm trying...and hope to catch up to my co-workers soon!

Thing 3

I had a bit of a problem at first with figuring out the RSS feeds, then I realized I already had done this before. I decided to do a bulk subscription from the Google reader, which quickly overwhelmed me. I decided to pare it down a bit, and added a few from sports, cooking/food, and arts/crafts.

This could be a huge help to keep me up on some of the sites I like to frequent. What used to happen was I'd forget to visit them for a few weeks or months, then have to take too long to catch up on all the posts. This is much more efficient.

I could see this being useful for students -- if they had an ongoing project to work on it does a lot of the work for you.

I plan to take a bit more of my own time to pare my subscriptions down even more. Lately I'm feeling some tech-overload. I could never give up all the technology I use daily, but sometimes a technology fast is in order. It will probably last just a few hours, however, not even a few days.

(:

Thing 2

Well, I'm finding out I'm just going to have to work on this at home sometimes if it's ever going to get done. I plan to watch the video clip today and work on the readings somewhat. Where does my time go? Mostly just the ins and outs of working at a branch library every day - where you are almost always on desk or at least on call...

Here I am...

Thing 1, I guess, was just getting here. It went well, but I'd had a blogger account ages ago (never did use it, however). The avatar was a bit more complicated, but again I had done something similar on a site where I play games regularly. This particular avatar wasn't as easy to make as the one on that site, but I managed to get it done. I worked with various other staff who were here at the branch and it was fun to see their avatars evolve.

I only wish I actually looked more like my avatar, and that I were camping!
